Hi! So, how many of you have a holiday party or event coming up and want your makeup to be on point? Maybe you found this post because you totally love makeup but just need a few little tricks to make it pop! Either way, I’m so excited you’re here and I want to share some easy tips for that flawless makeup look!
5 ways to achieve a flawless makeup look
Prime your face! But don’t just apply the primer and then your foundation right away. Your primer needs time to set. Whenever I am doing a makeup application I prime the face and then move on to the eyes. This gives the primer some time to hydrate the skin, fill in fine lines and pores and let your foundation sit nicely on top!
Eyes first! In the past, I didn’t always start with the eyes when doing a makeup application. But unless you are a really confident you won’t get any shadow fallout from that fab smokey eye I recommend starting your makeup application with the eyes first. That way you can clean up any fallout and your eye makeup will stand out!
Use concealer as an eye shadow base! Ok so we know we should start with the eyes but how do we make the eye makeup stay put and blend nicely? Start by applying your favorite concealer and blend it out with your fingers. Then add a light colored eyeshadow all over the lid to set it. This will even out the skin of the eyelids and give a nice canvas for your shadow.
Don’t apply foundation under the eyes! Alright, you are ready for foundation but try not to apply any under the eyes. Leave that area for your concealer. To avoid a cakey look under the eye, less is more! Don’t forget to lightly set the under eye with a setting powder.
Use a setting spray! For any flawless makeup look, you have to set your face! Setting sprays are great for absorbing excess powder and locking the makeup in place which will make it last. Never forget to set!

Primers are a big deal in my opinion. To be honest, there are a ton of good ones! Smashbox has great pore filling primers and lately I’ve really been enjoying my Too Faced HangoverRx because my skin has been very dry. I feel like Smashbox kind of set the stage for priming the face so if you haven’t tried their Photo Finish primer you might want to start there.
I have tried a few setting sprays and nothing compares to Urban Decay All Nighter. Urban Decay makes a few different ones but this one is called All Nighter for a reason.
You can pretty much use your favorite concealer as your eyeshadow base but right now I am loving my Nars Radiant Creamy concealer in Custard.
